almost nothing to lose
Today 22:14
I'm like Jambon, I've written this off in my head. However rather than thinking of it as a new investment, I'm thinking its the best investment in my portfolio. My average price was 125 (I'm so glad I didn't keep chasing it down!), so even if it goes to nothing its worth 35 to me offsetting the tax bill on other gains, so I have nothing more than I've already written off to lose. If it fails, I get 35p per share, if they survive it will bounce much more than that. If I forget the spilt milk, from today forwards I can only make money. I wish all my shares had the same go forward projections.

Quite frankly, the childness of the posts, lack of intelligent debate and insights makes a mockery of this forum.

Some people may enjoy it, for me it is drivel at best.

Ent - good post and I firmly believe as you have outlined that the price you are in at will look cheap on reflection over time. We have only been at this bottom level for 2-3 weeks. As we have seen over that period this can move c. 20 % when someone sneezes (Up 9 % on open then down 9% suddenly pre close). That's after two days of 6% rises. The market hasn't one clue what this is worth currently. It was one nightmarish company update after another. And for good measure repeatedly flood the market with cheap short sold shares coupled with positions being forced to close due to high volatility, leading to further fear and selling. What if provisions are reduced due to better than expected collections! What if there is a d4e but is say 200 mln. Less debt more shares so has the equity position really changed from today?!! The banks agree covenant amendments and facilities extensions. Revenue is steady at 4bln with good industry margins! Where does that leave the shareholder? Worse than today?? Unlikely. Is that sufficient to flush out the shorters?

Faidealer - i can assure you i am not a phantom and i am not a farmer. Agriculture is one of my businesses. My investment was not on a whim with my only miscalculation being the bottom. I am not nursing a loss as i can afford to wait and the remainder of my portfolio is doing quite well as are my other investments.
I do not see what point you are trying to make. A 13k hypothetical loss is nothing if you have enough money to weather the storm dont you think?

The construction enquirer story is funny... scare monger headline and then..

"Although we cannot comment on specific projects we can confirm we have every intention of continuing this relationship and have several projects in the pipeline at King’s Cross that we will actively engage Carillion in the New Year".

I work on the biggest civil engineering joint venture in Europe and we are in contract talks with Carillion/Kier JV...No issues for us.
