Transformer Failure

NLMK reports that a transformer failure has occurred at its Urals-based long products plant NSMMZ, resulting in the stoppage of one of the two Electric Arc Furnaces (EAF) with a 1.1 million tonnes per year capacity. No injuries occurred as a result of the incident. While the management is assessing the causes of the failure of the transformer and the impact of the EAF stoppage on output, part of the orders were transferred from the closed EAF to the second one. More details will be disclosed in due course.
