STATEMENT RE PRESS COMMENT

Charles Stanley Group PLC (the "Company") has noted the recent press speculation concerning a possible disposal of its Charles Stanley Securities division.

The Company confirms that it has entered into exclusive negotiations in relation to a possible disposal of elements of the division. At this stage no assurance can be given that a disposal will proceed.

The Company will issue a further statement in due course.
