RIT Capital Partners PLC14 July 2005 AGM Statement - appointment of director The following is an extract from the statement of Lord Rothschild, Chairman ofRIT Capital Partners plc, at the Company's Annual General Meeting on 14 July2005: "We continue to review the composition of the Board and its committees,particularly in view of the number of independent directors who are required tocomprise in number at least half of the directors, a position with which wecomply. Taking a further step in this direction, I am now pleased to announce that theBoard has today appointed Chris Hohn as an additional independent non-executivedirector with effect from 1 August 2005. Chris is Chief Investment officer atT.C.I. Fund Management and will bring a wealth of investment expertise andexperience with him which will be of great help in the Board's strategicdeliberations. In addition to this Board appointment, I am also pleased to announce that DavidHaysey will be joining us as Chief Investment Officer in September. David has adistinguished record in the asset management sector, built up during his yearsat S G Warburg and latterly Deutsche Bank Asset Management. He will be a valuedand important member of our team." ----------------------------------- Mr Hohn, age 38 is the Portfolio Manager of The Children's Investment FundManagement (UK) LLP, which he founded in 2003. He was formerly the Portfoliomanager leading the European event-driven investment strategy at Perry Capital,which he joined in 1996. Mr Hohn started his career with Coopers & Lybrand as a Manager in the CorporateFinance Division in 1989, prior to obtaining an MBA at Harvard Business Schoolwith High Distinction. He then worked with Apax Partners from 1994 to 1995 priorto joining Perry Capital. Mr Hohn is currently director of The Children's Investment Fund Foundation (UK)and The Children's Investment Fund Management (UK) Limited. ----------------------------------- Additional disclosures relating to Mr Christopher Hohn, as required underChapter 9 of the UKLA Listing Rules: 1.
