("the Company") received on 23 January 2006 ("the Update Letter") a copyof a notification from Barclays PLC dated 20 April 2005 ("the OriginalNotification") that, as of 19 April 2005, Barclays PLC no longer had anotifiable interest in the issued ordinary share capital of the Company. Thisannouncement is being made with reference to the Update Letter and the Companyconfirms that, to the best of its knowledge and belief, it did not receive theOriginal Notification in April 2005.
