British American Tobacco PLC20 April 2006 DIRECTOR/PDMR SHAREHOLDING The independent trustee of the British American Tobacco Group Employee Trustnotified the Company on 19 April 2006 that between 13 April 2006 and 18 April2006 it had released 13,958 British American Tobacco p.l.c. 25p ordinary shares(the "Shares") to satisfy the exercise of options under the Company's shareoption scheme. Following these transactions, the independent trustee of the British AmericanTobacco Group Employee Trust holds a total of 21,860,408 Shares. The following executive directors, together with other employees, are potentialbeneficiaries under the trust, and are therefore deemed to be technicallyinterested for Companies Act purposes but were not connected with thetransaction that took place between the above mentioned dates: Mr P N Adams, MrP A Rayner and Mr A Monteiro de Castro.
