Portman Building Society22 May 2007 PORTMAN BUILDING SOCIETY - GROUP FINANCE DIRECTOR Mark Gibbard has stepped down from his position as Portman's Group FinanceDirector. This follows the overwhelming approval of Portman members for theproposed merger with Nationwide Building Society. Mark has been seconded toNationwide as Divisional Director, Risk Management, a position he will take uppermanently if the merger is confirmed by the Financial Services Authority. The Portman Board has appointed Jonathan Westhoff to fill the role of GroupFinance Director until the merger with Nationwide (the effective date of themerger is expected to be 28 August 2007) following which he will join the Boardof Newcastle Building Society as Finance Director. -Ends- This information is provided by RNS The company news service from the London Stock Exchange
