Director changes

Further to the Company's announcement on 11 March 2021, the Board of Aberdeen Smaller Companies Income Trust PLC confirms that Barry Rose has retired as a Director and is pleased to announce the appointment of Christopher Metcalfe as an independent non-executive Director of the Company. Both changes take place with immediate effect.  

It is intended that an additional independent non-executive director will be recruited before the next AGM in April 2022, in anticipation of the retirement of the Chairman, Robert Lister, at that meeting (as previously announced).

Christopher, has over 30 years' experience in investment management, having been an investment manager at Newton Investment Management from 2006-2017, and prior to that at Schroder Investment Management and Henderson Administration Group.

He is currently a non-executive director of Martin Currie Global Portfolio Trust plc and JP Morgan US Smaller Companies Investment Trust plc.

The Chairman has commented as follows on these changes:

"I should like to take this opportunity to thank Barry Rose, on behalf of the Board, for his support throughout his tenure and for his continuous service as a Director of the Company since March 2011. We wish him the very best in the future.

We are delighted to welcome Christopher to the Board. He brings a wealth of knowledge in relation to closed-end funds, including experience of the Smaller Companies Sector."

Christopher will stand for election as a Director at the Annual General Meeting to be held in April 2022.

There are no other disclosures required under Section 9.6.13 of the Financial Conduct Authority Listing Rules.
