Director Appointment
The Board of Directors of the Company (the "Board") wish to announce that Mr Simeon Brown is being appointed to the Board, with effect from 17th May 2010.
As the Chief Executive Officer of HSBC Global Asset Management (UK) Limited, Simeon is responsible for the management of the private client, intermediary and institutional investment business of HSBC in the UK, Jersey, Malta and the Middle East. He is a member of the recently formed European Management Committee that determines HSBC's strategic direction in the asset management business in Europe.
Simeon began his career in 1990 as an Accountant working for Littlejohn Frazer and specialising in the Lloyd's insurance business, qualifying in 1994. In 1996, he joined the Internal Audit function of HSBC Bank plc specialising in the asset management and investment banking audits. Then in 1999, he transferred into the HSBC asset management group as Chief Operating Officer (COO) of HSBC Asset Management (Americas) Inc. based in New York and subsequently transferring to take on the COO role for HSBC Investments in Asia Pacific based in Hong Kong but covering the offices in Japan, Singapore, Taiwan, India and China and, until 2006, Australia. He joined HSBC Investment (UK) Limited in 2007 as the COO before being promoted to CEO in January 2008. Simeon is a graduate of Bristol University with an honours degree in history and is an Associate of the Institute of Accountants in England and Wales
