("Universe", "the Company" or "the Group")
Clarification Regarding Contract Renewal and Extension
Further to its announcement released on 28 October 2009 and the announcement made by Brulines Group plc ("Brulines") on 29 October 2009, Universe announces that it has approached Brulines for its consent pursuant to Rule 21.1 of the City Code on Takeovers and Mergers (the "Code") to enter into the renewal and extension of a contract with a large UK supermarket chain, the pertinent details of which were disclosed in Universe's previous announcement. That consent has now been received.
Consequently, pursuant to the Code, Universe no longer has to seek shareholder approval to enter into this contract, thereby enabling the Company to proceed to sign the contract without incurring unnecessary delay and expense.
