Launch of d2w Eco-Compatible Metalised Packaging

Symphony Environmental Technologies Plc (“Symphony” or “the Group”), the degradable plastics and waste-to-energy Group, is pleased to announce that, through its wholly owned subsidiary, Symphony Environmental Limited, it has today launched the World’s first d2w™ 100% degradable metalised film for snack foods, in conjunction with Organizacion Barcel (“Barcel”), a subsidiary of Grupo Bimbo Mexico (“Bimbo”).

The announcement comes after successful extensive trials and will see Symphony’s d2w™ additive being used in Barcel’s film for its premium range of snack food products including the Takis and other brands. The product ranges include crisps and confectionary amongst others.

This follows the successful use of Symphony’s d2w™ additive in the packaging for Bimbo’s bread and other products, announced in August 2008, and has been achieved through Symphony’s official distributor, Plasticos Degradables S.A de C.V.

A joint press conference was held at Hacienda de los Morales, Mexico City at 10:00am local time on 12 May 2009 to formally launch the new initiative. Presentations were made by Daniel Servitje, Group CEO of Bimbo and also Gabino Gomez, General Director of Organizacion Barcel, together with Michael Laurier, Group CEO of Symphony.

Michael Laurier, Chief Executive of Symphony Environmental Technologies plc, said:

“I am delighted to be able to announce this launch with Barcel, which is evidence of the excellent work that we have been doing with Bimbo. Bimbo has led the way in adopting degradable packaging in Latin America and this development will further strengthen the d2w™ brand on a Global scale. We look forward to working with Bimbo on further developments and also to sharing a successful future in the use of d2w™ eco-compatible products in many markets and applications.”
