CLRL is the company leading the Crossrail project to build a new rail lineacross London, from Maidenhead to Shenfield and Abbey Wood. The contract isworth between £12m and £15m over the next two years. The appointment of ScottWilson as multi-disciplinary consultant is a major step forward in theco-ordinated plan o deliver Crossrail, and unlock the wide range of benefits itwill provide. The proposed Crossrail route will run from Maidenhead and Heathrow in thewest, through a tunnel under Central London with stations at Paddington, BondStreet, Tottenham Court Road, Farringdon, Liverpool Street, Whitechapel and Isleof Dogs, out to Shenfield and Abbey Wood in the east, joining the Great Westernand Great Eastern railway networks. The Crossrail hybrid Bill, which is promoted by the Secretary of State forTransport, Alastair Darling, received its 2nd Reading on 19 July 2005 andentered Select Committee stage on 17th January 2006. The project has anestimated cost of £10.292 billion at Q1 2002 prices - equivalent toapproximately £16 billion in money of the day over the construction period(i.e., allowing for future predicted inflation). 2.
