Star Energy Group PLC19 December 2006 To: Star Energy Group plcDated: 18 December 2006 Re: Notification concerning interests in shares of Star Energy Group plc (the "Company") To your attention: 1Wellington Management Company, LLP ("Wellington Management") is registered as aninvestment adviser with the United States Securities and Exchange Commissionunder section 203 of the Investment Advisors Act of 1940, as amended and acts asdiscretionary investment manager on behalf of various separate accounts (the"Accounts") that hold on interest in shares of the Company. WellingtonManagement's interest in the shares is as an investment manager, as is mentionedin Section 205(5) of the Companies Act 1985 ("the "Act"). The Accounts do notact as a group nor do they act in concert with respect to the interests inshares. Wellington Management acquired the interests in shares for the Accountsin its capacity as discretionary investment manager to, and solely for thebenefit of the Accounts, and the interests were acquired solely for investmentpurposes. The shares are registered in the name of the Accounts or the Accounts'custodians or nominees according to their respective holdings. 2Wellington Management as discretionary investment manager on behalf of theAccounts ceases to hold, in the aggregate, an interest within the meaning ofSections 203 and 208 of the Act. Wellington Management holds 2,158,292 ordinary shares, or 2.72% of the shares outstanding of the Company. 3This notice is given in fulfillment of, and for the express purpose ofdischarging the obligations imposed on us by, Sections 198(1) and 208(4)(B) ofthe Act and arising out of the circumstances referred to in paragraph 2.
