Smithson Investment Trust plc ("Smithson" or the "Company")
Block Listing Application
The Board of the Company notes that an application has been made to the UK Listing Authority and to the London Stock Exchange for a block listing of 3,000,000 Ordinary Shares of 1 pence each ("Ordinary Shares") in the Company to be admitted to the Official List and to trading on London Stock Exchange's Main Market for listed securities ("Admission").
The 3,000,000 Ordinary Shares to be block listed may be issued pursuant to the Company's existing general authority to issue shares on a non pre-emptive basis. These Ordinary Shares may be issued inter alia to satisfy market demand and for the purposes of managing the premium to net asset value (cum income) per Ordinary Share at which the Ordinary Shares are trading. When issued, the new Ordinary Shares will rank pari passu with the existing Ordinary Shares in issue. It is expected that Admission will become effective on 11 December 2018.
Any Ordinary Shares issued pursuant to the block listing facility will be issued subject to the terms and conditions of the placing programme set out in the Company's prospectus dated 17 September 2018.

Smithson Investment Trust plc ("Smithson" or the "Company") is a newly established investment trust which is externally managed by Fundsmith LLP. The Company raised gross proceeds of £822.5 million upon its admission to the premium segment of the Official List and to trading on the London Stock Exchange's Main Market for listed securities on 19 October 2018.
Smithson's investments will be focused on a global basis on small and medium sized companies between £500 million and £15 billion in market capitalisation, and an average of £7 billion.
