STANDARD LIFE UK SMALLER COMPANIES TRUST PLC

APPOINTMENT OF NEW DIRECTOR

The Board of Standard Life UK Smaller Companies Trust plc (the "Company") is pleased to announce the appointment of Liz Airey as an independent non-executive Director of the Company with effect from 21 August 2019.

Liz is currently non-executive Chairman of Jupiter Fund Management plc, a non-executive Director of Kirk Lovegrove & Company Limited, a member of the Corporate Governance Committee and Investments Committee of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, and Chair of Trustees of the Rolls-Royce UK Pension Fund. Within the past five years she has also been a non-executive director of Tate & Lyle plc and Dunedin Enterprise Investment Trust plc. Prior to that she was a non-executive director of JP Morgan European Smaller Companies Trust plc, Zetex plc and AMEC plc and in her executive career she was Finance Director of Monument Oil and Gas plc, a post she held from 1990 until the sale of the company to Lasmo plc in 1999.

There are no further disclosures required under Section 9.6.13 of the Listing Rules in relation to this appointment.
