SeaEnergy launches ship management company

SeaEnergy, the energy services group, announces today that it is launching a ship management company, SeaEnergy Ship Management Limited, to offer ship management services across the offshore energy sector with a particular specialism in "walk to work".

It has recruited the team which formerly operated as Brooklyn Shipping Limited, led by Rennie Cameron. The team has a long track record of delivering a highly professional, cost-focussed ship management service, and has a unique depth of experience in supporting marine operations involving dynamically positioned (DP) vessels and "walk to work" solutions. The team is already in place and Rennie Cameron is to join as Managing Director of SeaEnergy Ship Management in the next few weeks.

The SeaEnergy Ship Management team will contribute to SeaEnergy's businesses by delivering a specialist ship management service to wind farm and oil & gas clients seeking "walk to work" access to installations for maintenance projects, by supporting SeaEnergy Marine's own vessel operations, and by contributing a new dimension of expertise to the SeaEnergy consulting business. The ship management operation starts with immediate revenue through the provision of superintendents and other technical experts for ship owners.

The new team's operational capability will be complemented by the recognised engineering and naval architecture expertise already within SeaEnergy. This has enabled SeaEnergy to develop unique purpose-designed vessels with exceptional performance in walk to work roles, and will enhance the ship management capability by applying technical selection criteria to pick vessels from the existing fleet, thereby ensuring high performance in projects and operations requiring "walk to work" solutions.

Rennie Cameron said "the team is delighted to be joining SeaEnergy, whose vision and values align closely with ours, and where our skills and contribution can add to the growth of an exciting group."

Mike Comerford, Director of Operations at SeaEnergy added "We're delighted to be adding a high quality, cost-focussed ship management capability to the group. This builds on the existing aspects of our business, allows us to broaden our range of services to clients, and creates a unique offering underpinned by a deep understanding of the technical and operational requirements of "walk to work" operations from dynamically positioned vessels''.

Notes for Editors

1. Additional information on SeaEnergy Ship Management's services and experience may be found on its website: www.seasm.com

2. SeaEnergy PLC is an AIM-listed energy services business, based in Aberdeen, Scotland.

3. SeaEnergy's energy services business currently involves three complementary aspects: the provision of vessels to provide operations and maintenance support to offshore energy industry, a consulting business offering strategic consulting and currently focussed on asset integrity and HSE management, and the R2S business which is rapidly expanding the delivery of its Visual Asset Management service across the energy sector.

4. SeaEnergy's detailed analysis demonstrates that "walk to work" solutions using motion compensating gangways installed on suitably capable dynamically positioned ships offer the most cost effective, efficient and reliable means of transferring technicians to offshore wind farms in the larger Round 2, Round 3 and Scottish Territorial waters developments.

Oil & Gas UK's Step Change in Safety Group has set up a Marine Transfer Workgroup to focus on the safe transfer of personnel offshore by means other than helicopter. Due to the exceptional circumstances with a number of Aberdeen-based helicopters still suspended and impacting on the logistics of getting people on and offshore, transferring workers by other means - such as "walk-to-work" - remains an option when helicopters are unavailable.

The Health and Safety Executive's KP3 (Asset Integrity Programme) report highlighted concerns about an apparent general decline in the condition of fabric and plant on offshore oil and gas installations. Lack of bed space on installations was found to be one of the root causes of the decline in routine fabric maintenance. Vessels able to provide accommodation and "walk to walk" access to installations can provide a flexible and cost effective solution to this long term problem.

5. SeaEnergy trademarked "SeaEnergy Walk to WorkTM" services to encapsulate its operational, technical, procedural and real-time scheduling expertise in this area of complex marine operations as a unique service offering "SeaEnergy Walk to WorkTM".
