Redline chosen for Chilean Telecommunications Provider's broadband network expansion

Comunicacion y Telefonia Rural S.A. (CTR) selects Redline's RedCONNEX(TM)

to expand its broadband network capacity to five cities

TORONTO, Jan. 21 /CNW/ - Redline Communications Group Inc. , a leading provider of standards-based WiMAX access and broadband wireless infrastructure products, today announced that Comunicacion y Telefonia Rural S.A. (CTR) of Chile, a leading rural telecommunications company, has chosen Redline's award-winning RedCONNEX(TM) AN-50e to expand its wireless broadband network in five cities of south of Chile, increasing its subscriber base by 30%.

CTR chose the high-performance RedCONNEX AN-50e to serve as the backbone for its expanded network as part of its plan to improve its national telecommunications infrastructure in Chile. The RedCONNEX(TM) products provide long-rang, high-capacity wireless backhaul for the company's existing satellite and wireless access infrastructure, enabling CTR to deliver greater quality of services to more users.

"CTR has established a large and loyal customer base by providing our customers reliable data services," said Renĩ Catalan, Network Manager, Comunicacion y Telefonia Rural S.A. "We chose Redline's proven RedCONNEX(TM) product family for its ability to deliver reliable, low-latency connections so our customers can enjoy real-time data and voice applications. With Redline's AN-50e, we know our customers, especially those in rural communities, will receive the most reliable and advanced communications available."

"With the privatization of the telecom industry in Chile, CTR recognized an opportunity to increase its presence in this now highly competitive environment, by upgrading the capacity of its current network and expanding its reach into new cities," said Kevin Suitor, Vice President, Marketing and Business Development, Redline Communications Inc. "The AN-50e is the perfect solution for CTR; it will enable it to expand its network, while continuing to provide quality access to its current and new customers."

Redline Certified Partner and systems integrator, I-Systems S.A. of Santiago de Chile, managed the network planning and installation of the RedCONNEX(TM) AN-50e network. The first phase of the backhaul deployment covers an area of more than 500 km along some areas, offering both internet and telephone services to new residential and business customers.

"Wireless broadband service providers must balance their customers' expectations of extensive, high-quality broadband service against the reality of high-cost bandwidth," said Rodrigo Villar, Chief Engineer, I-systems. "Using the AN-50e, CTR maintains its competitive advantage, meets customer expectations, and avoids expensive investments in additional infrastructure, allowing for more growth and deployment opportunities."

"By investing now to expand our current infrastructure, we are, investing in our future - a future that will see its return on investment within 20 months. We are also very pleased with the support and service we are receiving from Redline and I-Systems," continued Catalan.

RedCONNEX(TM)

Redline's RedCONNEX family of broadband wireless infrastructure products have been deployed by companies worldwide to support a range of applications including mobile backhaul, video surveillance, storage and business continuity, premium Internet access, and other voice, video and data services. The RedCONNEX product family includes the AN-50e high speed wireless point-to-point (PTP) and point to multipoint (PMP) Ethernet bridge, the AN-30e carrier-grade TDM backhaul solution for mobility and enterprise network operators, and the new AN-80i broadband wireless backhaul solution. Operating in the 5.4 GHz and 5.8 GHz spectrum bands, the AN-80i leverages Redline's proven OFDM technology to deliver industry-leading, high-speed Ethernet throughput up to 90Mbps and flexible software defined configurations. With its exceptional long range capabilities, the AN-80i is able to establish and maintain reliable and highly secure connectivity that can exceed 80 km (50 miles) in clear line-of-sight conditions.
