Meridian Petroleum PLC27 October 2006 27 October 2006 Meridian Petroleum plc ("Meridian" or the "Company") Appointment of David Wake-Walker as Non-Executive Director Meridian Petroleum plc (AIM: MRP) the oil and gas exploration and productioncompany with assets in the United States and Australia, today announces theappointment to the Board of David Wake-Walker as a non-executive director withimmediate effect. Mr. Wake-Walker has spent over 25 years in financial services management,principally in corporate banking, beginning his career as a graduate traineewith Kleinwort Benson after taking an MA (Classics) from St Andrews University.Mr Wake-Walker moved to Kleinwort Benson (Hong Kong) Ltd. in 1983 as managingdirector, and from 1990-94 was Joint Head of the bank's Financing Division.During his career with the bank his geographical responsibilities included SouthAfrica, the Asia Pacific region and North America. Mr Wake-Walker was a Director of Kleinwort Benson Limited from 1981-95 and aDirector of the listed Kleinwort Benson Group plc from 1990-95. He served as:Chairman of the Divisional Credit Committees; the European and US MezzanineInvestment Committees; and the Group Training Committee. In addition, he was amember of the Investment Banking Executive Committee and the Group Assets andLiabilities Committee.
