Mears Group PLC09 January 2008 9 January 2008 Mears Group PLC Significant contract award Today Mears Group PLC ("Mears") announces the award of a flagship contract worth£65 million with Birmingham City Council to provide responsive repairs and voidsrefurbishment in the Northern area of the City. The work will encompass the transfer of over 300 staff and will last for an initial period of 4.5 years withan option to extend to a full term of 7 years. This win follows an extensive tender process, lasting over 6 months, through which Mears was able to demonstrate service and efficiency benefits of advantage both to the Council and to the residents of North Birmingham. This Birmingham win, together with Mears' recent win with Midland Heart Housing,gives the Company a very strong footprint within the Midlands, from which the Company would expect to win further work in the future.
