The Board of GMA Resources Plc today announces theimmediate appointment of Mr David Netherway as non-executive director. David George Netherway, aged 53, is a mining engineer with nearly 30 years ofexperience in the mining industry. From April 2002 until the completion of itstakeover by Eldorado Gold Corporation in 2005, Mr. Netherway served as thePresident and Chief Executive Officer of Toronto listed Afcan MiningCorporation, a China focused gold mining company. Mr. Netherway is a minedeveloper and operator who was involved in the construction and development ofthe Iduapriem, Siguiri and Kiniero gold mines in West Africa and has miningexperience in Australia, India, Nepal, Oman and Malaysia. Prior to joiningAfcan, Mr. Netherway held senior management positions in a number of miningcompanies, including Golden Shamrock Mines, Ashanti Goldfields and Semafo. Mr. Netherway has received a B.E. in Mining Engineering from the University ofMelbourne in 1975 and a Certified Diploma in Accounting and Finance from theChartered Association of Certified Accountants in the United Kingdom in 1985.
