Dublin/Ā LondonĀ 29thĀ JulyĀ 2008:Ā Jagran Prakashan Limited ('JPL')Ā -Ā publishers of 'Dainik Jagran', India's largestĀ dailyĀ newspaper, and in which INM has a 20.8% shareholdingĀ -reportedĀ OperatingĀ RevenuesĀ of RsĀ 2.1 billion (ā¬31.7m)Ā forĀ Q1Ā '08/Ā '09,Ā aĀ yoy increase of 12.6%. Total Revenue and Net Profit for Q1 '08/ '09Ā was Rs. 2.1Ā billionĀ and Rs.316.5 millionĀ respectively, yieldingĀ non-annualized EPS for the quarterĀ ofĀ Rs 1.05.
AdvertisingĀ revenues increased to RsĀ 1.4 billion (ā¬21.5m)Ā from Rs 1.3 billionĀ - a growth of 10.5% over the same periodĀ last year. Circulation revenues increased to Rs. 478 millionĀ (ā¬7.3m),Ā fromĀ Rs. 442 million,Ā anĀ increase of 8.2% overĀ the same period last year, withĀ dailyĀ circulation figures for theĀ 'Dainik Jagran' increasingĀ byĀ 6.7%.Ā
In the quarter, further editions ofĀ 'i-next'Ā - JPL's successfulĀ bilingual newspaperĀ -Ā wereĀ launched inĀ PatnaĀ (State capital of Bihar)Ā andĀ inĀ RanchiĀ (State capital of Jharkhand)Ā to take the total number of editions to 9.Ā
RevenueĀ from other operating activities, which includes Outdoor Advertising, Event Management Activity andĀ Mobile Information ServicesĀ increased to Rs. 145.5Ā millionĀ (ā¬2.2m), an increase of 36.4%Ā on the corresponding quarter of the previous year.
