Dublin/Β LondonΒ 29thΒ JulyΒ 2008:Β Jagran Prakashan Limited ('JPL')Β -Β publishers of 'Dainik Jagran', India's largestΒ dailyΒ newspaper, and in which INM has a 20.8% shareholdingΒ -reportedΒ OperatingΒ RevenuesΒ of RsΒ 2.1 billion (β¬31.7m)Β forΒ Q1Β '08/Β '09,Β aΒ yoy increase of 12.6%. Total Revenue and Net Profit for Q1 '08/ '09Β was Rs. 2.1Β billionΒ and Rs.316.5 millionΒ respectively, yieldingΒ non-annualized EPS for the quarterΒ ofΒ Rs 1.05.
AdvertisingΒ revenues increased to RsΒ 1.4 billion (β¬21.5m)Β from Rs 1.3 billionΒ - a growth of 10.5% over the same periodΒ last year. Circulation revenues increased to Rs. 478 millionΒ (β¬7.3m),Β fromΒ Rs. 442 million,Β anΒ increase of 8.2% overΒ the same period last year, withΒ dailyΒ circulation figures for theΒ 'Dainik Jagran' increasingΒ byΒ 6.7%.Β
In the quarter, further editions ofΒ 'i-next'Β - JPL's successfulΒ bilingual newspaperΒ -Β wereΒ launched inΒ PatnaΒ (State capital of Bihar)Β andΒ inΒ RanchiΒ (State capital of Jharkhand)Β to take the total number of editions to 9.Β
RevenueΒ from other operating activities, which includes Outdoor Advertising, Event Management Activity andΒ Mobile Information ServicesΒ increased to Rs. 145.5Β millionΒ (β¬2.2m), an increase of 36.4%Β on the corresponding quarter of the previous year.
