UK COAL PLC

New Coal Contract

UK COAL PLC ("UK COAL") today announces that it has signed a new contract with an electricity generator customer to supply coal on improved and extended commercial terms, which will have a positive financial effect for UK COAL as from 1st January 2009. In addition, discussions on similar new contracts are taking place with other generators. Given the commercially sensitive nature of the ongoing negotiations, no further details of the new contractual arrangements announced today will be given at this time.

An overall update on UK COAL's supply contracts will be given at the time of the preliminary results announcement scheduled for 27th April 2009.
