KGV-D3-G1Ā drilling update
Hardy Oil and Gas plc (LSE:Ā HDY.L), the oil and gas exploration and production company, with assetsĀ predominantlyĀ in India, is pleased to announceĀ that theĀ thirdĀ explorationĀ wellĀ KGV-D3-G1Ā on theĀ Company's D3Ā (KG-DW-2003/1)Ā explorationĀ licence was spud on 14 April 2009 with a plannedĀ totalĀ depth ('TD') of 2,510Ā m TVDss. TheĀ D3 blockĀ isĀ located within the Krishna Godavari basin, a proven prolific hydrocarbon province.
The explorationĀ wellĀ KGV-D3-G1 is located at a water depth ofĀ 1,233Ā mĀ and willĀ Ā exploreĀ theĀ sands in Pleistocene slope debris complex and Pliocene / Late Miocene deep water channel-levee-lobe complex.
The TransoceanĀ drillship, Discoverer 534, which was carrying out completion work inĀ Reliance IndustriesĀ LimitedĀ ('RIL') nearbyĀ D6 blockĀ is currentlyĀ drillingĀ theĀ KGV-D3-G1Ā well.Ā Considering the present schedule of availability of the rig, it is planned to drill and lower 20" casing and suspend the operation for re-entry at a later dateĀ as theĀ drillship's blowoutĀ preventerĀ ("BOP")Ā repair isĀ in progress.Ā In the event thatĀ the BOP repair is completed in time,Ā it is intended to complete theĀ drilling of theĀ entire wellĀ to TD.
TheĀ D3Ā license, in which the CompanyĀ holdsĀ aĀ 10Ā per centĀ participating interest and isĀ operated byĀ RIL, is located in theĀ Krishna GodavariĀ basin on theĀ EastĀ Coast of IndiaĀ and covers an areaĀ ofĀ approximatelyĀ 3,288Ā km2.
TheĀ KGV-D3-G1 is located approximately 20 km southwest of the Company's two gas discoveries (Dhirubhai 39 and 41)Ā in the blockĀ thatĀ were announcedĀ earlierĀ in 2008.Ā TheĀ appraisal programmeĀ ofĀ the Dhirubhai 39 and 41 discoveries,Ā which has beenĀ approved byĀ theĀ operating committee,Ā isĀ presentlyĀ beingĀ reviewed by theĀ Directorate General of HydrocarbonsĀ of the Government of India.
Commenting on the drilling, Yogeshwar Sharma, Chief Operating Officer said:
"We are pleased to have brought forward the D3 drilling programmeĀ as itĀ provides an opportunity toĀ further de-riskĀ the prospectivity of the D3 blockĀ andĀ highlightsĀ the importance of theĀ KrishnaĀ GodavariĀ BasinĀ to ourĀ assetĀ portfolio. "
