Greggs PLC10 March 2006 10 March 2006 GREGGS plc BOARD APPOINTMENTS Greggs is the UK's leading retailer specialising in sandwiches, savouries and other bakery products, with a particular focus on takeaway food and catering.It has over 1,300 retail outlets throughout the UK, trading under the Greggs and Bakers Oven brands. Richard Hutton FCA (37) is appointed to the Board of Greggs plc as an ExecutiveDirector with effect from 13 March 2006, and will succeed Malcolm Simpson asFinance Director in May this year. Richard qualified as an accountant with KPMGand gained career experience with Procter & Gamble before joining Greggs in1998. He is currently Deputy Finance Director, and is a Non-Executive directorof Northern Recruitment Group plc. Malcolm Simpson, who reaches the age of 65 in October, has decided to retire asFinance Director with effect from the company's AGM in May, after serving on theBoard in that position since 1975. He will remain an Executive Director withcontinuing responsibility for the Group's important IT function. The Boardwould like to record its appreciation of his exceptionally long, dedicated andeffective service. Sir Ian Gibson CBE (59) has agreed to join the Board as an additionalNon-Executive Director with effect from 1 April 2006. Ian was Chief Executive ofNissan Europe N.V., Senior Vice President of Nissan Motor Company (Japan),Deputy Chairman of Asda Group and Chairman of BPB plc. Ian is a Non-ExecutiveDirector of Northern Rock plc and of GKN plc. On appointment, Ian will become amember of the Company's Audit and Remuneration Committees. Greggs plc confirms that it has been advised by each of Richard Hutton and SirIan Gibson that there is nothing further to disclose in relation to Rule 9.6.13of the Listing Rules.
