Gooch & Housego PLC15 November 2007 For immediate release 15 November 2007 Gooch & Housego PLC Appointment of new executive director Gooch & Housego PLC, the specialist manufacturer of optical components andsystems, announces that Mr Peter J. Quinn will be joining the board in anexecutive position with effect from today. Peter Quinn will take up the positionof Chief Financial Officer with effect from 2nd January 2008, succeeding IanBayer who retires at the end of the year. Peter J. Quinn, 51, was Chief Financial and Chief Operations Officer ofSmartDisk Corporation from April 2002 to January 2006. SmartDisk, a NASDAQquoted US corporation headquartered in Fort Myers, Florida, USA, is a leadingdesigner and manufacturer of portable external storage devices and digitalimaging viewing and storage devices. From December 1998 until April 2002Mr. Quinn served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer ofNumerex Corp., a NASDAQ quoted US corporation headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia,USA involved in data communications technologies. Prior to that time, Mr. Quinn served as the Chief Financial Officer for UplinkSecurity, Inc., a USA based high technology company that was acquired by Numerexin May 1998. Mr. Quinn trained in Ireland and held a number of financialmanagement positions there before his move to the United States to join Uplink. On his return to the UK in 2006 Mr. Quinn worked in the financial servicesindustry in the Channel Islands.
