Ferrexpo reports an additional 2 billion tonnes of iron ore resource atĀ GPL
FerrexpoĀ plc ("Ferrexpo" or the "Group")Ā is pleased to announce the results of a review of the iron ore resources contained withinĀ itsĀ Gorishne-Plavninskoye andĀ Lavrikovskoye depositsĀ undertaken as part of the project to expand and extend its existingĀ Gorishne-PlavninskoyeĀ Lavrikovskoye ("GPL") mine.Ā
The resources associated with the GPL mineĀ in the measured, indicated and inferred categoriesĀ have been increased by 127.4% to 3,704mt, from 1,629mt at the time of the Group's listing.Ā TheĀ increase in resources isĀ primarilyĀ due toĀ an extension in the depth limit to which resources have been declared.Ā The review of the resources was undertaken by SRK Consulting (UK) LtdĀ ("SRK"), whichĀ also performed the original resource assessment for the Group's listing. SRKĀ hasĀ confirmed thatĀ bothĀ theĀ original and restated resources are reported in accordance with the JORC code.
The SRK report containing the full resource statement is available on the Group's website (www.ferrexpo.com).
The GroupĀ hasĀ engaged Turgis (Pty) LtdĀ toĀ assist it in revisingĀ theĀ long termĀ GPL mine planĀ based on the updatedĀ SRKĀ resource modelĀ and to investigate further options for nearer term mine optimisation.Ā The Group is confident that thisĀ work isĀ likely toĀ show a significantĀ increaseĀ inĀ the economically recoverable iron oreĀ reserves associated with the GPL mine.
Dave Webster, Ferrexpo's Interim Chief Operating Officer, said:
"We at FerrexpoĀ remainĀ focused on maximising the value of our resource throughĀ continuedĀ exploration and efficient mine planning.Ā This positive restatement of the resourcesĀ containedĀ withinĀ theĀ Gorishne-Plavninskoye andĀ LavrikovskoyeĀ iron ore deposits associated withĀ ourĀ GPLĀ mine givesĀ us added confidence in the Group's ability to expand production at the mine and to extend its life beyond 2035. We are pleased that SRKĀ hasĀ independently verified the extent of the very large resource available to the Group through its existing mine, and the project to extend and expand that mine continues to proceed on schedule and within budget.Ā This significant uplift in our resources is in addition to the substantial resources available to our major growth projects at Yeristovskoye and Belanovskoye."
