Faroe Petroleum PLC24 October 2006 Faroe Petroleum Plc ("the Company") Holding in Company The Company was notified on 23 October 2006 that The Goldman Sachs Group, Inc ("GS Inc") was interested, by attribution only, in a total of 4,023,220 ordinaryshares of 10p each in the share capital of the Company ("Ordinary Shares") representing approximately 5.45 per cent. of the Company's issued share capital. Of these 4,023,220 Ordinary Shares: a. the interest in 3,623,220 Ordinary Shares arose from an interest held by Goldman, Sachs & Co, wholly owned direct subsidiary of GS Inc, acting as custodian for its customers.
