TERMINATION OF TALKS

London:Β 13 May 2008 - OnΒ 17Β AprilΒ 2008Β the Board of Mercator GoldΒ plcΒ ("Mercator" or "the Company") announced that it had received a preliminary approach which may or may notΒ haveΒ led to an offer being made for the Company. Discussions about this potential offer have now been terminated.

The Company confirms that as a result, it is no longer in an "offer period" for the purposes of the City Code on Takeovers and Mergers.

The Board remainsΒ committed to progress theΒ Company's production and exploration activities inΒ Western Australia.
