Electrocomponents plc, the world's leading high service distributor of electronics and maintenance products, has today issued its interim management statement for the period from 1 October 2013 to 31 January 2014.

 

For the four months to 31 January 2014 Group underlying sales growth(1) was around 2%.

International sales grew by 4% and UK sales declined by around 2%. UK sales excluding Raspberry Pi (2) grew by 1%. Within International, Continental Europe grew by 5%, North America grew by 3% and Asia Pacific grew by 2%. Sales growth in North America was significantly impacted by adverse weather conditions during December and January.

 

eCommerce sales continue to grow faster than the Group as a whole, benefitting from our investments in website functionality. eCommerce sales growth was around 5%, resulting in eCommerce comprising around 59% of Group sales during the period.

 

There have been no significant changes to the Group's strong financial position during the period.

"Group sales growth during the four-month period was around 2%, compared to 1% sales growth in the first half. All regions have delivered improving sales trends as compared to the first half with the exception of North America, which was significantly impacted by adverse weather conditions during December and January."
