DCD Announces Three New TV Commissions

DCD Media, the independent TV production and distribution group, has received a further three commissions for 'shock docs.' "My Big Fat Mexican Wedding" ( Five and TLC), "Juliana - My New Face(Five) and "Deaf - Blind Triplets(Discovery Health USA).

These commissions have arisen following the success of previous programmes by DCD-owned September Films, including "Pregnant Man" (Channel 4 and Discovery Health US) and "The Real Elephant Man" (Channel 4). DCD Rights, the Company's distribution arm, will be marketing the full slate of seven 'shock docs' for international distribution at the forthcoming MIPCOM television market in Cannes

"My Big Fat Mexican Weddingwill follow the world's heaviest man, Manuel Uribe, as he finally gets married. His extraordinary weight, of 85 stone, first made headlines in 2006. The documentary will feature intimate interviews, wedding preparations and the full ceremony.

"Juliana - My New Face" is a powerful documentary telling the story of Juliana Wetmore, a girl born with no face. Now five years old, one committed doctor helps build her face and Juliana begins to live a normal life with her family for the first time.

"Deaf - Blind Triplets" is the story of the Dunn sisters and their struggles as all three are completely cut off from the world.

DCD Media Chief Executive, Chris Hunt, said,

"DCD - owned September Films continues to cement its status as the pre-eminent producer of human documentaries, trusted by major international broadcasters to make sensitive and compelling material concerning human topics of worldwide interest. It's story of Huang Chuncai, "The Real Elephant Man," who suffered a tumour of the nervous system drew 3.5 million viewers to Channel 4 and it's therefore little surprise that other broadcasters look to September to produce programmes in this vein.

These three further commissions will see us marketing a valuable slate of 'shock docs' at Cannes next week."
