II. Statement of Operating Performance and Financial Position
From January to June 2021, the Company achieved a total profit of RMB 10,012 million, up 5.30% over the same period of the previous year; and the net profit attributable to shareholders of the Listed Company was RMB 8,394 million, up 6.22% over the same period of the previous year. The increase in results was mainly due to the contribution from Peruvian company as a result of the change in the scope of consolidation and the increase in investment income due to the improved operating performance of the units in which the Company invested.
Note: The increase in basic earnings per share was lower than the increase in net profit attributable to shareholders of the Listed Company because the weighted average number of common shares for the period was different from the same period of the previous year due to the issuance of GDRs by the Company in the second half of 2020.
