Industry expert appointed to accelerate commercial opportunities

Cyan (AIM:CYAN.L), the integrated system and software design company delivering mesh based flexible wireless solutions for utility metering and lighting control, announces that Mark Coyle has been appointed to the role of Vice President, with responsibility for business development and sales in Europe, Africa, Americas and Australasia.

Mark is based at the Company's headquarters in Cambridge UK, and will be responsible for developing and managing strategic relationships and capturing new sales opportunities for smart energy solutions and Internet of Things ("IoT") applications. Mark brings more than 20 years of industry knowledge and commercial experience, which will support Cyan's aim of developing IoT opportunities in fast growth markets as well as winning large scale commercial deployment contracts of smart metering and lighting.

Before joining Cyan, Mark held the position of Managing Director, UK & Ireland, at Silver Spring Networks. Mark was responsible for Silver Spring Network's rapid growth in the UK and worked on projects such as Glasgow City Council's selection of their intelligent lighting solution and the UK Power Networks 'Flexible Plug and Play' Low Carbon Networks Fund project. Prior to this Mark held leadership positions at Utiligroup, CGI/Logica, and National Grid. In addition, Mark has advised governments, regulators, utilities, and consumer bodies across the world on the transformation of their energy and city services to meet future needs.

Having joined Cyan last week, from Silver Spring Networks, Mark has been able to make an immediate impact at Cyan; together with a local telecoms partner, Mark made an onsite presentation of Cyan's value proposition to a utility for a 200,000 unit smart meter tender in a new country where Cyan has not previously had any presence."
