Character Group PLC19 December 2007 19 December 2007 The Character Group plc (the 'Group' or 'Company') Transaction in Own Shares As part of the Group's stated objective to enhance shareholder value, theCompany advises that it has today purchased in the market through CharlesStanley Securities 437,565 ordinary shares in the Company at a price of 87.25pence per share. This represents approximately 0.98% of the issued share capitalof the Company (excluding shares held in treasury). These shares will be held intreasury. Following these transactions, the Company has 44,054,372 ordinary shares inissue (excluding 1,437,565 ordinary shares in the Company held in Treasury). The Directors will continue to monitor the position and will, if appropriate,make further purchases of the Company's own shares.
