CIB reported today that Mr. Hussein Abaza, its Chief Executive Officer, has chosen to enter a period of self-quarantine following the death of a close family member. That family member subsequently tested positive for COVID-19.
Mr. Abaza will be tested for the virus in accordance with the protocols of the Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population.
Mr. Abaza presently has no symptoms of COVID-19 and continues to execute all of the duties of his office from home. He was already scheduled to work from home this week and next as part of the bank's covid-19 rotation policy for senior staff. He had accordingly made all arrangements necessary to carry out his duties remotely and will hold meetings this week with staff and investors.
In the event that it becomes necessary, his duties will be taken up by other members of the leadership team under the Bank's Business Continuity and Resilience plan.
All of CIB's 207 branches and 1,033 ATMs are fully operational and serving our valued customers, unless officially notified otherwise by the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE). For your safety and that of our staff, and to help prevent the spread of the virus, we have introduced additional cleaning protocols and spoken with everyone on our team about best practices in personal hygiene.
