Clean Air Power Limited20 August 2007 For immediate release 20 August 2007 CLEAN AIR POWER ANNOUNCES SIGNIFICANT EUROPEAN PATENT GRANT Clean Air Power, the developer of Dual-FuelTM combustion technology that enablesheavy-duty diesel engines to run on a combination of both diesel and naturalgas, has recently been granted a significant European patent that covers thefuture development of Dual-FuelTM technology. The European patent "Dual Fuel Engine Having Multiple Dedicated ControllersConnected by a Broadband Communications Link" was granted under Patent No. EP1,485,599. This European patent applies to a dual-fuel engine control system comprisingof at least two controllers communicating within a Controlled Area Network(CAN). The CAN is the state-of-the-art "computer network" that enables oneelectronic control unit (ECU) to speak with another ECU, including anycontroller in the vehicle that is capable of communication within the CAN.Currently, all vehicle system communication is managed by CAN technology. By patenting the use of the CAN communication protocol for dual-fuelapplications, Clean Air Power has a competitive advantage and has protected itsfuture products against competitive systems. The use of the CAN gives Clean AirPower systems the benefits of the industry's standard communication protocol anddelivers the optimum technical approach for system integration. Clean Air Power continues to deliver on its strategy to develop and patentsignificant elements of Dual-FuelTM to ensure future protection of itstechnology to deliver an efficient, cleaner and lower cost alternative toconventional diesel fuel.
