Telco Systems announced today its next generation of CarrierEthernet demarcation and service extension products, which supportboth Carrier Ethernet and VPLS services from the customer premises. The T-Marc 300 series product family is the first multi-portcustomer-located demarcation device to provide extensive managementand test features for Ethernet, MPLS/VPLS and IP networks. Withpurpose-built demarcation and service extension capabilities, theT-Marc 300 series is equally suited for inter-provider deployment. £ The T-Marc 300 Series supports managed converged services onseparate customer interfaces or multiple services on a single customerinterface. Because each service is isolated, providers cantroubleshoot each individual service without impacting others.Applications are prioritized over different traffic-engineered paths, and multi-level OAM is used to measure and ensure provisioned ServiceLevel Agreements (SLA) are met. In addition, security controls areembedded to ensure protection against denial-of-service attacks. £ In making the announcement, Manu Kaycee, vice president of productstrategy for Telco Systems stated, "Based on MEF specifications, theT-Marc 300 has been purpose-built to optimize CAPEX and OPEX forservice providers as they continue to deploy managed services. Webased its technology on current IEEE, ITU-T and IETF standards toensure interoperability with the provider's current infrastructure, and extended those standards with the inclusion of embedded RFC2544-based service performance analysis and standards-friendlyextensions for value-added service deployment." £ "By integrating standards-based test and assurance with multiplenetworking models, the T-Marc 300 series will be of significant valueto service providers as they deliver newer Ethernet service offeringsand extend their service footprint," said Glen Hunt, Principal Analystof Carrier Infrastructure at Current Analysis. "T-Marc's intelligentdemarcation and service extension capabilities will allow serviceproviders to alleviate network load as they increasingly deliverconverged services." £ Networking features of the T-Marc 300 include Advanced Layer 2Networking using Telco Systems' AccessEthernet(TM) allows totalflexibility in deployment, provisioning, and delivery of CarrierEthernet services. Physical and virtual networking capabilitiesprovide automated address management and discovery, bandwidthprofiles, advanced traffic classes, and complete control over howsubscriber traffic is transported across a service provider's network. £ AccessMPLS(TM) extends a VPLS or MPLS-T domain to the network edgefor expanded, integrated multi-service networking. In cases whereservice providers want to extend the many benefits of VPLS andPseudowires to a CLE, AccessMPLS provides a purpose-built solution tomap into existing MPLS-based networks in a transparent manner, whileutilizing a common set of rich management, provisioning and OAM tools. £ AccessIP(TM) provides a managed, provider-provisioned CLE,allowing service providers to administer "end-to-end" IP services.Similar to VPLS, an IP-based CLE provides an "abstract" accessnetworking model, allowing service providers to leverage compellingnetworking, troubleshooting, and assured services independent of theunderlying transport technology. £ The T-Marc 300 product family supports the followingconfigurations for complete deployment flexibility: £ -- Four customer-facing 10/100/1000Base-T, 100Base-FX or 1000Base-X combo Ethernet ports (T-Marc 340) £ -- Eight customer-facing 10/100/1000Base-T, 100Base-FX or 1000Base-X combo Ethernet ports (T-Marc 380) £ -- Two additional combo ports for redundant network interface uplinks for protected services, multi-homing, and link diversity and aggregation £ -- Copper or fiber Ethernet-based demarcation between the service provider and enterprise networks, multi-tenant units and office parks. £ -- Managed demarcation point for out-of-franchise applications £ The T-Marc will be available in July, 2007, and starts at $1499 £ About Telco Systems £ Based in Foxboro, Massachusetts, Telco Systems is a leadingprovider of carrier-class transport and access solutions for IP andTDM networks for carrier, service provider and enterprise markets.
