Bristol & West PLC14 December 2005 BRISTOL & WEST PLC ANNOUNCES CHANGES TO THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS Bristol & West plc, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Bank of Ireland Group, hasannounced the following changes to its Board of Directors. Mr Roy Keenan, who has been Chief Executive of Bristol & West plc and Bank ofIreland UK Financial Services since March 2003, concludes his secondment in thatrole, and retires from the Board of Directors of Bristol & West plc, with effectfrom 31 December 2005. In the first quarter of 2006 he will work with the GroupChief Executive on a number of Group projects, based in Dublin, and will retirefrom the Group on 31 March 2006. Under Mr. Keenan's leadership, the business in the UK has been significantlyrestructured and has included the disposal of under-performing businesses, aBusiness Improvement Programme that is delivering significant efficiencies and aclear focus on the Group's core businesses in the UK. The Division hassignificant potential for growth and development, and contributes more than aquarter of the Group's profits. Des Crowley, Chief Executive, Retail Financial Services Ireland (RFSI), willsucceed Roy Keenan as Chief Executive of Bristol & West plc and Bank of IrelandUK Financial Services on 1 January 2006. He will be appointed to the Board ofDirectors of Bristol & West plc as an Executive Director with effect from 1January 2006. Background: Des Crowley: Joined Bank of Ireland in 1988 from Arthur Andersen & Co. In March2000 he became a member of the Group Executive Committee on being appointedChief Executive Retail Banking and Distribution. He was appointed ChiefExecutive RFSI in April 2004. He had earlier held a number of senior managementpositions in Bank of Ireland as Head of Systems Development, Head of Credit CardServices, Managing Director of Bank of Ireland Finance and General Manager,Retail Finance and Strategy. He is a member of the board of Bank of IrelandLife.
