Avocet Mining PLC ("Avocet" or "the Company")

Exercise of options satisfied by treasury shares

Avocet announces that, on 8 January 2010, the Company issued 42,812 ordinary shares of 5 pence each ('Ordinary Shares') out of treasury shares to satisfy the exercise of share options. The Company now holds 758,195 Ordinary Shares in treasury representing 0.39 per cent of the Company's issued share capital.
