African Platinum Plc27 October 2005 African Platinum plc Ticker: APP Index: AIM Sector: Exploration AFPLATS APPOINTS JOCK HARMER AS EXPLORATION MANAGER London, 27 October 2005 - AIM-listed platinum exploration and developmentcompany African Platinum (Afplats) has appointed Dr Jock Harmer as explorationmanager. Harmer will head an exploration programme which covers ongoing work at Afplats'sflagship Leeuwkop project on the Western Limb of South Africa's BushveldComplex, the Snakes Head prospect in Zimbabwe, the Molopo Farms prospect inBotswana and the company's PGM-prospective tenements in Mozambique. Chief executive Roy Pitchford said Harmer's appointment would give the company'sexploration activity a major boost. "Jock's exceptional experience andunderstanding of the Bushveld and other mafic intrusives will be of particularbenefit to us," he said. Harmer holds an MSc in Geology from the University of Natal and a PhD ingeochemistry from the University of Cape Town. He is an experienced explorationgeologist as well as an academic who has published 37 papers, largely on theBushveld Complex, in peer-reviewed journals and books. He joins Afplats fromPan Palladium where he was exploration manager and a director of its SouthAfrican company. Afplats's Leeuwkop project is at bankable feasibility stage with a resourcewhich currently stands at 50 million ounces of 4E (the three platinum groupmetals plus gold) but which the company believes has the potential forsignificant expansion. The June pre-feasibility study envisages a 300 000ounce-per-year mining and concentrating operation with a life of mine in excessof 20 years.
