API Group PLC24 April 2006 24 April 2006 API GROUP PLC APPOINTMENT OF A NEW NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR API Group plc, the specialist packaging company, announced today the appointmentof Martin O'Connell as a Non-executive Director with effect from 1 May. Mr O'Connell (55) recently retired as an Executive Director of Field Group, theprinted paperboard packaging company, and as a Senior Vice President ofChesapeake Corporation, its US parent. He has 30 years' experience of thepackaging industry and played a key role in the successful expansion of theField Group in Europe. Following the acquisition of the Field Group byChesapeake Corporation in 1999, Mr O'Connell had responsibility for itsInternational and Branded Products division in Europe. He is a qualifiedChartered Accountant and has also held a number of senior operational financepositions. Commenting on the appointment, Richard Wright, Non-executive Chairman, said: "Martin has extensive experience of the packaging industry, both in the UK andinternationally, and is a valuable addition to the Board. In addition, he hasparticular knowledge and recent experience of the markets for premium-brandedgoods packaging, which we believe are key to the future development of theGroup." In the past five years Mr O'Connell has been, but is no longer, an ExecutiveDirector of Field Group plc. There is no further information which is requiredto be disclosed under paragraph 9.6.13 of the Listing Rules.
