API Group PLC01 September 2006 1 September 2006 API GROUP PLC APPOINTMENT OF A NEW NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR API Group plc, the specialist packaging company, announced today the appointmentof Luke Wiseman as a Non-executive Director with immediate effect. Mr Wiseman isresponsible for European research at Steel Partners (UK) Limited. Steel PartnersII, LP, a private investment partnership, has a beneficial interest in 29.5% ofthe shares in API. Commenting on the appointment, Richard Wright, the Non-executive Chairman ofAPI, said: "We have been in discussion for some time with Steel Partners regarding thealternative ways in which it could support the Board's plans for furtherdeveloping and expanding the Group's core activities. We believe that theappointment of a shareholder representative to the Board will facilitate thisprocess and is appropriate given the particular circumstances of the Group. Wewelcome Luke's appointment as a Non-executive Director and are confident that hewill make a positive contribution as we pursue our aim of growing long termvalue for all shareholders."
