Sierra Leone Diamond Company Ld18 October 2006 For immediate release 18 October 2006 Sierra Leone Diamonds Company Limited ("SLDC" or "the Company") Appointment of Interim Finance Director Sierra Leone Diamonds Company Limited (AIM:SLD) the diamond exploration andproduction company, wholly focussed on the country of Sierra Leone, todayannounces the appointment of Gordon Stein as Interim Finance Director, witheffect from 16th October 2006. Gordon will fulfil this position until 31stDecember 2006 when Jamie Alpen will join SLDC as Finance Director from CluffGold plc, the AIM listed exploration company focused on countries in WestAfrica, as announced on 9th October 2006. Gordon Bowman Stein (aged 47) is joining from Fairfield Energy Ltd, an upstreamoil company focused on the North Sea, where he was one of the founders and Headof Finance & Company Secretary. Mr Stein, a fellow of the Chartered Institute ofPublic Finance and Accountancy (CPFA) and member of the UK Institute ofDirectors, was previously the Finance Director of Acorn Oil & Gas Ltd ("Acorn")from June 2001 to November 2005. Before Acorn, Gordon held senior financial andoperational management positions for BG plc, Centrica plc, Monument Oil & Gasplc and LASMO plc . Commenting on the appointment, David Gadd-Claxton, Chief Executive of SLDC said: "I am delighted to announce the appointment of Gordon who will fulfil the role offinance director until Jamie joins SDLC as Finance Director in January. Gordon hasrecent experience as a finance director and has been active in a number of significantproject developments and associated financings.
