Dr Bence joinsStephen Bates, who is Director of UK Ventures and will operate from new officesbased in Cambridge. Stephen Bence was previously Chief Operating Officer of Splashpower Limited, atechnology start up company based in Cambridge. He was responsible for strategyand internal operations, culminating in the raising of $5.4 million of venturefunding. Before joining Splashpower, he held a senior position at internationalconsultancy McKinsey & Company, where he spent six years serving numeroustechnology and industrial clients on issues such as corporate strategy,corporate finance, and marketing. Dr Bence holds a PhD in Physics and an MA inNatural Sciences from the University of Cambridge. Commenting on the appointment, Stephen Bates said: "I am delighted with this appointment.
