Abbey PLC24 March 2006 Abbey Plc (the 'Company') Share Buy Back Abbey Plc announces that on 23 March 2006, it purchased 338,299 ordinary sharesof €0.32 each in the issued share capital of the Company ('Ordinary Shares') at€10.40 per share for cancellation. Following the above the total number of Ordinary Shares in issue (excludingshares held as treasury shares) is 29,671,744. This purchase was made pursuant to the authority granted by shareholders at anExtraordinary General Meeting of the Company held on 21 June 2005. To date4,406,038 shares have been repurchased under this authority.
