Appointment of a Non-executive Director
Barclays PLC and Barclays Bank PLC ("Barclays") announce that Matthew Lester has been appointed as a Non-executive Director of Barclays. He will take up his appointment on 1 September 2017. Matthew will join the Board Audit and the Board Risk Committees on appointment.
Matthew has a strong finance background and extensive board-level experience. He currently serves on the boards of Capita plc and Man Group plc, as a Non-executive director, where he also chairs the Board Audit and Risk Committee of each company. Since 2010 he has been Chief Financial Officer of Royal Mail plc and as previously announced by Royal Mail on 20 December 2016 he will step down from this position at the conclusion of its AGM on Thursday, 20 July 2017. He has also previously served as Group Finance Director of ICAP Plc between 2006-2010 and prior to this he held various executive management positions at Diageo, including Treasurer and Group Financial Controller.
Matthew, a chartered accountant, began his career at Arthur Andersen and Kleinwort Benson.

There is no additional information required to be disclosed in relation to Matthew Lester pursuant to paragraph LR9.6.13R of the Listing Rules of the Financial Conduct Authority.
