Formal consultation with Trade Unions
Following informal engagement with Trade Unions for four months, Heathrow is today initiating a Section 188 formal consultation process with its Trade Unions in accordance with the Trade Union Labour Relations (Consolidation) Act 1992. By enacting the Section 188 process, we are able to ensure that consultation with our Trade Unions can take place within a timeframe of a minimum of 45 days to reach an agreement on changes to employee terms and conditions.
This process begins after provisional traffic figures for August 2020 indicate that passenger numbers were approximately 82% down compared to 2019 as a result of continued quarantine regulations and other impacts from the COVID-19 pandemic. Full complete traffic figures for August 2020 will be released as planned on 11 September 2020.
