Global Representation Deal
UBC announces contract to exclusively represent major professional digital music library.
UBC Media Group is pleased to announce that it has signed a contract with Broadchart International Limited (trading as I Like Music) which gives it the right to represent the most comprehensive digital library of commercially available music to radio and production clients in every territory.
British company I Like Music's unique digital library has been built up over 50 years from both vinyl and CD collections; it contains every UK Chart hit since the charts began in 1952, the majority of the US Hot 100 List since 1954 and thousands more from every conceivable genre. These have all been digitised as uncompressed 'wav' files making them suitable for professional use. Popular consumer services, like iTunes, are not suitable for use by broadcasters and producers as the files are heavily compressed and the copyright agreements held by theses services permit personal use only.
Currently used by the BBC, the library is constantly updated, adding some 5,000 tracks each month to the millions already in the collection. Professional broadcast clients are granted licences giving them instant access to preview and download copies of any song.
The agreement is for two years and gives UBC the right to act as exclusive agents for the I like Music library, becoming the principal contracting party for any client and retaining a commission from revenues that it passes back to I Like Music.
