7digital and eMusic partner to launch eMusicLive, a virtual concert and monetisation platform

New livestream platform built to monetise online performances for music artists

7digital (AIM: 7DIG), the global leader in B2B end-to-end digital music solutions, is pleased to announce that it has partnered with eMusic to launch eMusicLive, a first-of-its-kind livestream platform for the live music industry to stage virtual concerts that not only create a unique artist-to-fan experience online but also provide the direct commercial opportunities of live gigs for artists.

In the wake of COVID-19, the live music landscape has been forced to evolve and create new ways for artists to engage with music fans and recoup the income lost from ticket sales. eMusicLive has been built for artists, labels, brands, venues and managers to recreate the unique live experience and monetise the commercial opportunities of live gigs, bundling ticketing, music sales, merchandise and collectibles in a single web-based platform. It will be powered using 7digital's advanced technology platform, which provides access to the Company's global catalogue of music tracks in standard and hi-res audio. As the platform expands it is expected to also utilise 7digital's trusted expertise in B2B music solutions and flexible services, combined with eMusic's pioneering B2C technology and functionality, to introduce new solutions for the live music industry.

Rather than replacing traditional live events, eMusicLive is paving the way for a new engagement and income stream that is built to grow in a pandemic and post-pandemic world. The platform will offer an integrated artist-specific 7digital storefront to enable artists to sell their music catalogue or promote their latest release, thereby generating more exposure for their music and more value from sales. eMusicLive concerts will be fully customisable by artist, event and sponsorship and will be able to support artists, venues and brands of all sizes to grow their revenue and reach. In addition, eMusicLive transforms the way that artists engage with fans, giving them the tools to enhance and monetise these interactions. The platform also facilitates ticket and music bundling, real-time VIP experiences, Q&A and virtual rewards all within an end-to-end, closed-loop system.

Tamir Koch, President of eMusic and Chairman of 7digital, said: "At eMusic, we believe in technology that creates sustainability, removing inefficiencies or providing new income streams for artists. Even before COVID-19, artists performing online have been limited to platforms where they play for free and rely on multiple suppliers - this creates a fragmented approach to planning and promoting events as well as selling tickets, merch and music. We've built eMusicLive to bring all these commercial options together in one end-to-end solution. For the first time, this means livestream can be a primary source of income for artists. Our unique partnership with 7digital will allow artists to generate income streams from music sales and interact seamlessly with fans from all corners of the world, which sets our new offering apart from anything else on the market today."

Commenting on the partnership, Paul Langworthy, CEO of 7digital, said: "Social distancing measures in place around the world are creating an opportunity for new forms of live artist-to-fan engagement. While there are plenty of platforms, none have captured the true essence of a proper show, which should include both the performance value for the fan and commercialisation value for artists. We are delighted to now be delivering this with eMusicLive, using our commercial expertise to help recover lost income for artists. This is a new, emerging style of platform that we also see having tremendous value for venues as well as retailers and brands for whom music can play a key role in their engagement strategy or business model."

To mark the launch, eMusicLive will be hosting a series of exclusive live performances from a lineup of over 20 independent and emerging artists including Dirty Blonde, The Periwinkles, Duthie, Jordan Tice, ESKOH, Nathan Storey, and WANYI.
