RE: Testing in America31 Aug 2020 11:00
Good question CaptainStanley, I was thinking the same thing this morning and following a little research I've concluded that LTSM clinical validation won't be used towards Condor validation.
LTSM is lab based and Condor is all about validation of tests in the Primary or Secondary care setting (Falcon & Raptor). Easy conclusion, LTSM is not a real world setting like Condor so results won't be used towards Condor.
The next question I have is whether LTSM and Condor validations are running concurrently.
In the 7th August RNS we have:
LSTM is currently evaluating the performance of prototype lateral flow tests provided by Cytiva alongside Avacta's ELISA laboratory test using SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus samples, as a precursor to full clinical validation studies.
What are these full clinical validation studies? I'm assuming this is a reference to Condor and my definition of precursor is something that comes ahead of something of the same kind. This does not necessarily factor out concurrent testing although there will of course be a time lag for BBI to get the tests to Condor.
The LTSM lab based validation is all about speed to get the test to market. Also from the same RNS we have:
Dr Lisa Baldwin, Business Development Manager, LSTM commented:
"The partnership between Avacta and LSTM exemplifies the role of the LSTM in translational work to advance products to market and we are pleased to be working with Avacta on this coronavirus antigen test."
LTSM have access to many patient samples and is as we know lab based which of course will be far quicker than tests being run in a care setting. Based on Dr Lisa's additions to the RNS on advancing products to marker, my take on this is following successful validation by LTSM, this should be enough evidence to start full manufacturing and to start formally putting deals in place.
I believe we will get an initial RNS which provides S&S findings based on LTSM lab based validations.
If LTSM is all about speed then I'm hoping for and expecting an RNS to drop this week. Bams and LTSM RNS's cold drop in quick succession.
